I had a large metal vase that a freind bought at a yard sale. Been wanting to give it a new look for some time and wanted to try layering different colors of wax to get a unique look.

I started with dark wax at the top of the vase.

I applied using a chip brush. I didn’t cover thick as I knew I’d be adding several layers of wax.

I chose a dark blue for the undercoat at the bottom. I let it dry overnight.

I added a layer of white metallic wax and lightly brushed with clear wax. I created my own wax by mixing 1 part acrylic paint to 1 part wax to get the colors I wanted. I let it dry overnight.

I added a bright blue to the top and blended some gun metal wax about halfway down blending with the white. I let dry overnight.

I added some white to the blue on top, barely dapping brush into wax. I went over the whole vase with clear wax one last time.

Overall I’m happy with how the vase turned out, it was very plain, beat up vase that now has a new look. Can be customized to suit the individuals taste.

Mixing your own waxes! Choosing a beat up vase of indeterminate origin! Covering one layer with layer after layer! Ending up with modern touches! I’m totally amazed. ☺️

Yes the mixing of my own has saved me lots of $ and given me more choices on colors, etc. I’m just a beginner but liking results thus far.
