I have a glass and screened outer door. My front door is solid wood I do not want to paint....the wood is beautiful. But to add some color, I was wondering if you can paint the storm door?

Yes. Need to use a primer to adhere paint to the metal. Stop your an actual paint store and get the correct products. Should turn out fine.

You are right, I was thinking she couldn't use spray paint. I was giving an option to use exterior latex paint as a top coat.

Hi Suzanne. You absolutely can. I've spray painted aluminum screen doors quite a few times over the years . If you don't want to spray you could use a brush-applied paint also. Both are good options, but whichever you choose just make sure the paint you use is specifically meant for metal.

We had to replace our side screen door, one of the clips holding in one of the windows broke and it wouldn't stay in anymore. The one we wanted only came in white and we needed brown. I removed all the windows and screens and put news paper on the windows and screens with just enough room for painters tape to adhere it to the glass or screen. Everything was sanded down to give the new paint something to hold to, cleaned off all dust and spray painted with Rustoleum in the color we wanted. Use thinnish coats and you won't get runs. Ours turned out great! Just follow the directions for prep, time between coats, etc. and you shouldn't have any trouble at all. You can do this Suzanne!

Absolutely. Just make sure you get a durable paint for a metal door. I would recommend going to Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams or Ace Hardware for specific advice.
