Hi D.IY.ourselfers. I want the look of high end mirrored furniture without buying it. Would you suggest a high gloss metallic chrome paint ( maybe a faux finish? Or what? Easy and fast are my favorite ways. Please help! Thanks

If you have no experience with metallic paint, your best bet is to avoid a mess and just get a Mirrored Contact Paper. I have seen this at www.etsy.com before. Usually a Square yard sheet.

Nowadays contact papers of all kinds comes in all sorts: Tiled, Small or large, Wide Roll, Sheet (as Mentioned) or Thin Strips for Stripings, so dependent on the look you want acheived and how much mirror you want you can do mostly everything: Ceilings, Walls, Tabletops, Legs, Doors, Trim, Shelves, etc. But You gotta watch facets:

      1. It is very common that people take mirrored effects too far. Long before realizing that: 'Hmmm maybe a blend with Stainless, Black or other less reflectives was a better option'

So, do not buy alot at once, instead integrate it one test piece at a time.

      2. Especially where a reflection is a distraction for example: watching TV without a glare. You need to ask: Do you want it Permanent and/or removable? If Removable mount it on a Board not a Furniture...cuz once it's stuck it is stuck.

      3. If Decor or Cleanser will scar wood, it will surely Scar contact paper, so in some DIYs the expense in the long term decreases if you just special order 3/8" glass and Thin wood trim to mount the glass as a Protectant over cloth or contact paper, finer example: a Coffee Table, any Backing, Finest Woods, Booknook Shelf or any Tabletop where you encounter alot of activity, heat, sliding things back and forth, movement, stains, germs, wiping, gels or grease.

Any of those is a Fine reason for use of Glass.

      .

I mention #3 as it may apply to the nightstand top, especially if you have a curling iron, lamps or decor that can get hot and/or easily scratch that surface.

#2 is a must if you want a variety or to swap out decors from one room to the next.

I mention #1 as glare may be a factor that can influence placement of any furniture or the overhead lighting or where you mount a tv.

Amazon has repositionable self adhesive mirror vinyl that comes in rolls. Just put mirrored contact paper and the self adhesive vinyl will show up.

This sounds like something I would do. My projects can't really take longer than a day or two ( at most) or I lose interest and they get sucked into my studio also called the creative wormhole . This sounds like I could pair my faux chrome painting, silver leafing and these rolls of mirror together to get a BohoHotel mirror look...whoo hoo... I'll lost pictures!! Thank you so much!

    Hello,

Buy Acrylic Mirrors and stick them to the furniture instead of Glass Mirrors!
