Take it outside as often as possible. Give plenty of praise and make sure you treat him/her.

Yes, this is a training issue!

Use the vinegar to take away the odor so that the dog can't smell the spot. Try cleaning the odor from all the spots where the dog poops, get a few of the training pads and put a spot of the poop on it so that that is the only place that has the odor. Put it in a frequently used spot. Once used to using the pad, slowly move it a bit towards the door you normally use to take your dog out. I trained a stubborn pup that way once and it worked, but it took a while. If your dog doesn't alert you when it needs to go out so you can't always get the dog out in time, have a training pad by the door for accidents, and praise the dog when it goes on the pad and not in the rest of the house. I hope this helps you, Diagram!

It’s a behavior issue. Many factors at play. Home? Apartment? Do you have a back yard? There is so much info on line to help train a dog. Personality (dog) can be a factor. If doing while not at home crate train your pet.

  • How often is the puppy or dog being let out or taken on a walk? If a puppy at least every couple of hours. Was the dog potty trained and house broken? Dogs need to be trained gently. I have 6 and they were all trained to go in a certain spot in the yard. When they gotta go, they gotta go. If not let outside often enough they find a spot indoors. Consider installing a doggie door.

We acquired a rescue dog 3 weeks ago. Took me one day to train him, but my guess he was at least partially potty trained. Just be gentle but firm. You are the pack leader.

Take the poop outside and show the dog where it is. Tell him/her good doggie. Leave them out while cleaning the floor with a spray that is made for cleaning accidents. Don't pick up the poop until he/she goes outside. All cleaners are not equal buy the special cleaner and use only that.

Unfortunately, if you don't eradicate the smell, there is always the possibility that the dog will return to that spot.
