Hi Laurel. Welcome to the Gulf Coast! Use a fine grit sand paper to lightly rough up the surface. Wipe down with a tack cloth, use a primer that will adhere to plastic then use your chalk paint. Happy DIY'ing!
HI Laurel,
Other Hometalkers have given you good advice. My only additional thought is that you might want to consider coating the top of the dressers with poly, not just wax. Most dresser tops are used more and would do better with a poly surface to keep the paint from being scratched. Wishing you the best.
Hello Laurel,
You could use ESP (Easy Surface Primer) then paint over it. Best wishes......
Hi Laurel! I can tell you how to paint your dresser with Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint! :)
It is super easy to paint with Dixie Belle:
Step one: Clean with White Lightning
Step two (optional): If the surface is very slick, apply two coats of Slick Stick
Step three: Paint one to two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint
Step four: Use Gator Hide for a water resistant finish
No sanding required!!
