How can I arrange furniture around my corner fireplace?

You can consider mounting the tv over your fireplace. Also think about putting in a mantle. You could then set your tv on it. The beauty of this is the tv can now be viewed from the whole room. I do not know the size of your furniture set or the entryways into the area. Groupings are your best bet. Consider a u shape with the furniture. Place the 2 chairs on one side with a table between the chairs on the right with a lamp on the table. On the left put your loveseat, with a lamp next to its end, and directly in front of the fireplace between the 2 settings, put both of your recliners. A throw rug in the center pulling from the colors of your furniture will tie it together. You may want to get some fabric spray paint in a muted shade of your furniture colors and spray paint the shades all the same color. This will update your area and give it a holiday boost. Take a picture of your fabric colors to help select a paint color for the shades. Going rustic on your mantle will give you the most bang for your money. Someone in your family may have this board or know a friend who has one. You can also consider purchasing slip covers for your furniture or recover it yourself. You really can do this!!

Oh, corner fireplaces! In fact, I know a Professional Interior Designer company who is actually keeping a list on their web page of builders who persist in putting fireplaces in corners!

Some questions to ask yourself:

-How much over 12 months of the year do you really use the fireplace as a source of heat? If your answer is low, then I would suggest looking into removing the fireplace structure completely and closing off any sources of propane or electricity. Perhaps it could it be move to another place in the home and used as a 'non working fireplace' ?

-How many times over 12 months is all the sitting furniture used at any one time? If your answer is low then I would suggest considering eliminating some

Hi Lynda, Loveseat in centre opposite fireplace and Recliners either side of Love seat in a 'U' shape leaving a gap to get through or add Lamp tables at each end of loveseat. Sounds cosy to me........

It depends too on how you use the room and traffic patterns. I’d pay attention to how the space is used over a few days and move things based on its use.

Always the oddball here, I have had a few corner fireplaces and I loved them and just worked around them. What I didn't do was make it the focal point. It wasn't necessary. It was a source of heat or ambience only.

My brother has two corner fireplaces in his house and they are awesome! One in the formal living room - next to it is a floor to ceiling window that looks out onto their patio and lush backyard. They used the window as the focal point. The room is large enough to have two sets of furniture groupings. The second is in the den or family room off the kitchen. And in that room, the tv is the focal point.
