Goo Gone is for sticky adhesive not grease. Use some Dawn dish liquid and a little water. Blot with a cloth from outside in, Do not rub. Spray WD40 on the stain. Again blot only. Sprinkle some baking soda on the stain and pour a little vinegar on it. Let it foam up. Again blot only.
Oh...do I remember the day my daughter accidently spilled an entire deep fat fryer full of oil on my brand new carpet. It took months to get it all out!! Just kept cleaning that spot with the carpet cleaner and using the hose accessories as well. YIKES!
