How can I organize my stuff and my grandaughter's toys my family room?

Hi Lori, perhaps you can purchase bins in colors that go with your decor and have a different color for each of you. The toys can quickly be gathered and placed into a bin when bedtime arrives. Your crochet materials could be placed in one to corral it, etc. Or decorative crates painted in pretty colors or baskets would work as well.

I am having the same problem in my house LOL!!! My older home was not built with a lot of storage space. ugh. I have been dealing with this type of thing this week actually. So the first thing I would say is when you have a small house, CLOSETS are the first thing to tackle. What crap can you get rid of?..haha. Try to get a friend, sister, husband who can be completely ruthless as to what you are keeping. I have a tendency to want to keep everything because I can always turn something into a project right? HA. But that isn't realistic when you don't have space for it. I have tackled 2 closets this week and was able to reorganize them to allow for more space. Many toys were given away and now everything has a place which is the goal!!! There were things high up in the closet, I didn't even remember I had. And....if you didn't remember you had it, you won't ever miss it!!! Keep this in mind when clearing out:). Now there is room in the closet for your crochet and the toys! :)

I have added a couple of large baskets to gather up items. Also, we have this bench with a hinged lid for storage. I painted it and decorated for a toy box. Here's a photo when we gave it to her at her birthday.

Inexpensive cubby shelves and square fabric boxes that slide in can hold tons of stuff in a small space and can be reconfigured horizontally or vertically to fit your space. You can color coordinate with your room and mix in prettier things or store books in empty square spaces to make them look nice.

Fabric shoe store that fits over a door might help.

Hanging fruit baskets or macrame hangers and pots.

Use the top of the windows and doors to add narrow shelves. I did this for my children when they were small, soft toys and books will fit on them, and will keep the room tidier.
