  • Sheet Vinyl will be the least expensive. Just know your floors will be really cold in winter. Rugs will help. If you have pets, place extra padding under their pet beds or crates to keep them warm enough.

IF you are speaking of a general purpose room , and NO leaks , I would reccomend

Glue Down Vinyl . It is washable and should any leaks occur , it is easily cleaned Up.

IF you are using the room as a DEN or Family room , you could also install a PERGO type ,engineered flooring . Most of this type of flooring resembles Wood Flooring so It makes a gorgeous finish when installed properly. You can also move furniture around fairly easily with few or No scrathes, where as VINYL can Tear .

IF there are problems , the floor can be Taken UP and REUSED .Just make certain to number the pieces in order to re-assemble them correctly.

Laminate flooring is one way to go. It’s not real cheap, but you can buy boxes a few at a time. Two important considerations that are critical to avoid problems: 1-You must put down a vapor barrier before the flooring. This can be a sheet of thick plastic! Or even roofing paper (tar paper. 2-You need to bring in the flooring and cut open the plastic wrapping for about 2 weeks before you lay the flooring to allow it to acclimate to the climate inside your home.

  • If the concrete is in good shape, consider staining it. Stained concrete can be beautiful and is *very* affordable. Here's how I stained my floor!

We have slab floors in our home. Home Depot has a nice click look vinyl flooring that has a padding attached on the back of it, it cushions the floor and also helps to keep it warmer. We love it, it's easy to install, not to expensive, easy to clean, and it looks wonderful!
