How do I hang a vintage mirror on wall over bathroom vanity?

The frame of mirror that I thought was wood seems to be a composite or plastic. ItHas staples protruding from masonite backing that once had 2 strips of wood that attached to a dresser. I thought D rings would work. The mirror is 48" wide and 35" high. Concerned that frame could crack and mirror would fall. We put 1/2" plywood between studs before putting up new drywall. Any suggestion?

  • Hi,

There is some mirror hanging hardware you could consider depending on what is on the back of the mirror. Here is a link on Amazon. What a creative way to recycle/upcycle!

Thank you! I think the hanger you recommend comes in short sizes to hang sinks which just may work@

Thank you for your suggestion. I didn't mention that the mirror does not have any straight edges on frame. It is curvy on all sides. It was a real find at the local restore ($5). I painted it white to match the vanity which is new and has a curvy front with marble top

Maybe cutting the wall hangers down and adding them to top and bottom will help add enough support. Thanks again!

Since you painted it, just screw directly to your brace in the wall. Set the screw a bit and fill with patch and paint it out. Very easy and secure.
