I've always liked the two sided boards, one side has a fall painting, the other side is Christmas! I have no painting skills however, so I just admire the ones I see elsewhere!

Not "always" but 2 years ago I saw a Christmas tree made from vintage pins like my grandmother used to wear. I would love to make one of those.

  • 50+ years ago before Christmas displays became over the top commercialized money makers that they are today, when I was a little girl, one of the neighbors a few streets over had a beautiful home display with a huge almost people size train. (What scale is that?) All the decor was made by hand and painted by the family. Some motorized, some not, but all lighted and spectacular. Display was on their front yard and was a neighborhood attraction and always made the local newspapers. Every year they added a piece or two and and was never set up the same way twice. Every year my dad would remark about how much his electric bill was for the month of December. They set it up after Thanksgiving and kept it up through New Year's night. On Saturday nights after dinner we would take the dog for a walk with daddy to the local liquor store to get the Sunday Los Angeles Times, our penny candy and dad picked up a 6 pack of beer. We always walked past that house. It was the highlight of the week as a little kid at Christmas. What I liked was that everything was hand made by the entire family. Woodworking, painting, sewing, it was awesome. I would love to do just a few pieces that would be easy to store. Maybe in retirement . . .
