Check out Rustoleum Countertop Transformation. Its not a spray but a roll on with granules to simulate granite. Or you can just roll on a single color. Spraying inside can be messy. You have to cover EVERYTHING nearby to eliminate over spray. There are a lot of options. Get online to get some ideas.

Spray paint would not be a good option! The Rustoleum Countertop Kits do work really well. Also. If that is a straight piece of countertop you can change it out by looking at the in stock pieces of counter top available at places like Menards, Home Depot and Lowes. They are quite reasonable in price and would give you a new look.

Here’s a couple of resources: Daich Coatings has a water based product you can use. It’s called Spreadstone. And for about $125 you can get a speckled countertop that mimics some of the stone counters on the market. I have used their product and it turned out great both times. I think Spreadstone is easier to use and better looking than the Rustoleum kit.

If you want a higher end look go to StoneCoatCountertops.com. They have lots of how-to videos, recipes so you can replicate their results, products they sell and links to those they don’t. It costs more than Spreadstone but the result is incredible. It is epoxy so there is an added cure time that you won’t have to worry about with Spreadstone but when it’s done—wow. Just check out their website to see for yourself. I’ve now done my bartop, two bathroom counters, my kitchen table, and I’m getting ready to replace the Spreadstone surface in my kitchen with StoneCoat epoxy. It’s beautiful.

This product you're speaking of sounds incredible. Would love to see yours if you have pictures or videos ? Also wondering how they have held up so far, especially the ones around water ? Thanks for all the info on the product.

I went to a Marine (boat) store and got boat paint. I wanted a little shine to mimic corian (I got plain slightly off white) so I got the one that had the varnish already mixed in with the paint. I figure if it's durable enough to put on boat hulls that are always in salt water it must be durable enough for my countertop. I have a big kitchen and only needed 1 quart (with a little left over). It worked fantastic and I only recoated after 7 years due to some areas being a little less shiny than other areas. People think I have corian. (Don't worry, it's not super shiny, just enough to look good and like corian).

I recently redid my countertops. I researched a lot of different ways to do this. Some of them were too strong smelling for me but I did find this way. Clean your counters throughly, I used TSP and them lightly sanded the counters with my electric sander, wiped all the dust off. When the counters were dry I put a coat of shellac based primer with roller for smooth surfaces. Then added 3 light coats do Rustoleum chalk paint. I used a white one. I let each coat dry before starting the next. Next I rolled on 3 coats of poly acrylic. Let cure for at least 2 days. And voila they are done, I used a light caulking around the sink and the cooktop. With the poly acrylic I just wipe them down with warm water. It’s been about 4 months since I did it and it’s holding up well. It took me two days off and on what with the drying between coats. If I had to do it again, I would. The only thing I would do is possibly add a 4th coat of sealer, just for an extra safety but it might be overkill! I think with all the paints it cost me about 50.00, looks fabulous and really brightened up the kitchen which is done in blue and white!
