How to spot clean a rug?

You can buy a spot cleaner. They come in many different types and prices. Here is a base model listed on Amazon.

If you don’t want to go that route Woolite in a spray bottle works great and you truly don’t need to do any scrubbing.

Our cleaning crew uses Spot Shot and it's very effective.

I mix a cup of oxygenated cleaning powder like OxyClean or Awesome Orange (my favorite) with a bucket of warm water. Apply liberally with a soft t-shirt and rub until the spots come up. This solution is so effective that I use it in my carpet steam cleaner instead of the commercial shampoo.

As you can imagine anytime you use a soap products on carpeting it is impossible to get all the soap back out. Soap actually attracts more dirt. I have found that ordinary club soda is a marvelous product for spot cleaning carpeting. It never leaves a residue.
