Where to find pinch pleat curtains?
I've searched online, department stores, you name it and can't not find a site which sells pinch pleat curtains which use a traverse rod. One local blind and curtain retailer will make them for the price of $1,500.00 for three sets. I need cheaper alternatives and I don't want to give up these antique traverse rods. THANKS
Find a local seamstress. I ran into the same problem at my mom's house except I threw in the towel and replaced with a dual rod with curtain clips. I saved the old rod, but doubtful I will ever be able to use again until pinch pleats drapes are back in vogue. Plus hers were custom made. With a seamstress it will still cost a chunk of change depending on the fabric you choose, hopefully lined drapes will not cost more than half of what a retailer would charge.
Not sure where you are looking, but i see them offered at several stores. Took a moment b4 answering incorrectly and searched "pinch pleat drapes" / "pinch pleat curtains." The same sites came up for both. Depending upon your price point, many options available . . . JPC, Bed Bath Beyond, Wayfair, Bellacor, etc. If you can sew and have PATIENCE, make exactly what you want. I have purchased simple premade drapes and made them more substantial by adding lining, weighted corners, etc. Good luck.
I know it is very hard to find them. The newer curtains have the deep hole pockets, and I like the more traditional look. We found some nice ones through Wayfair and they were not that expensive. But here are some places to check out!

find pinch pleat curtains for traverse rod
Try this in search bar on Google.com
Thanks Folks, but these use a metal wire pin that slips into the TR. Miss Naomi, it sounds like you know what i'm talking about. Me a seamstress? HA, I can sew stuff but not curtains. Betty you are correct they are pinch pleat but not the old type (we're talking real old here) that will work with my rods. Perhaps a photo will help... stay tuned.
Have you checked at sesale shops, consignment shops? Those at JCP are a far cry from what they used to make (uneven hems, mismatched patterns, no seam allowance, no 45 degree angle folda at outer edges, thinner materials, etc.
If you're willing to make the effort, there are numerous, quality videos that will show you step by step how to make these. You can also purchase your own material and have them made by Calico Corners or similar.
Hi Olivia, I have checked every where. Hard to find the exact size replacements. We don't have any seamstress places in the poedunk town of Lansing MI. Only the one that wanted $1,500. Maybe I'm just too stingy. :)
Hi there, please let us know if your search is successful.
It's hard to believe that traverse pinch pleated draperies have become so hard to locate, or available only to the upper income levels...this makes you want to master the art of drapery making and become independently wealthy....😊.
I see them on JC Penny.com
Go to Penny's and buy curtain rings that have clips on then for traverse rods.
These curtain have a metal pin which ride inserts into the curtain rod hooks and they are opened but a pulley string system. Olivia knows what i'm talking about.
Amazon has some
Heather I've searched there. can you share the link. It would be much appreciated.
Hi, Spartchic,
I just happened to be looking on Etsy.com and found some pinch pleated drapery makers. Although I did not read all reviews or prices, nor did I check all lengths and widths, the caliber of work appeared to be more like what you and I remember.
I hope that you find some at a reasonable price, and wish you Happy Holidays.
