Some color on the wall. Drapes with a small pattern. If you can't buy new couches perhaps slip covers. Looks like there is art needed on the wall. Remember less if more. Don't crowd stuff in a small space. New lamp shades to go with whatever you pick out for your style. Throw rugs to play off the throw pillows and slip cover would look nice. You want it all to look intentional.
You are very welcome. Please let us know what you decide on. I would love to see what you do with the room. Good luck!
Cute dog!
Hi, I wish I could just come over & help you. I bet we could freshen up the look without spending a dime. People always think you have to go out and buy stuff but that's just not the only way. I'd start by just clearing off every table and clean each piece from top to bottom. Vacuum & dust everything else & wash anything that is washable. Next I'd see if you could move pieces around a bit to be more functional. Maybe the floor lamp could come out of the corner and go beside the recliner. Is there another window where the plant could go ( even in a different room)? Can the sofa and recliner trade places and can you turn the carpet the other way, putting it back in front of the sofa? They say we shouldn't block our windows so by putting the recliner and a small table and the floor lamp there I think it would seem more open ? I wish I could see the other two walls. Is the TV over the faux fireplace? Do you like the fireplace or could it go in another room and perhaps the dinning table could go on that wall. Anyway back to decorating. Go through all of your linens (towels, tablecloths, quilts, blankets etc.) and I bet you can find some items that could add some color to the room. I've started using all of my treasures to decorate with so I can enjoy them NOW instead of someday. Know what I mean. Once you have the furniture arranged in a new and pleasing and functional manner it's time to put some treasures on the walls. Look around the house, take something favorite from other rooms. It's just more enjoyable to have them in the room that you are in the most. Check the closets, drawers, cupboards etc. I bet you'll find things that you forgot you even had. Look for handmade things, pictures, mirrors etc. Keep your wall accessories lower, it is more pleasing to look at and makes the room seem larger. Well this is just what I would do if I could come and help you. Hope you got some ideas from my rambling. Good Luck, Reena
