Where does everyone store their seasonal decoration?

While Christmas makes up the biggest bulk of my decorations which are currently stored in specially marked bins in the garage - where does everyone store all their seasonal decorations? Halloween is now coming in a close second to what I already have. TIA

We store all of our different holiday bins in the attic space.

I am too - Louisiana! :) We have spray foam in the attic to keep it from getting too hot.

Hi Ticia, depending on the size of the decorations, you could dedicate a large shelve in your basement or garage to this and use rubber maid bins for the smaller items , shelf space for stuff that won't fit into the bins

      Maybe a garden shed?

    Hi Ticia,

I'm Linda and I store all of my decorations in my attic. Our home is a cape cod with a raised roof in the back so I don't have a lot of attic space, however the person before us cut into the real wood walls that are in closets to make storage under the eaves. He just put the wood back in the hole and secured it with clips. Before we raised the roof, we also had a door on the back wall that went into that area under the eaves. You'd be surprised how much can be stored there. Of course, if you have a regular attic with a hole in the ceiling, it can be harder to reach. Pull down stairs can help, but still it's hard going up and down those stairs with boxes. :( I hope enough people answer with many great ideas so that you can find one that works for you! Wishing you the best.

Hi Ticia. I'm Cindy. I put my Christmas decorations in bins with lids. Each bin is labeled. I stack them against a wall in our garage. Bins stack well. It all stays nice and tidy. There are a few items that won't fit in my bins, like our Christmas tree. Those items go on the top shelf in my closet in my bedroom. My husband did a mini-restoration in the closet before we moved into our house two years ago. He put shelves on the back wall from floor to ceiling. Our tree, and a few other items, are stored on the very top shelf. Somehow it all works.

  • No basement, nor attic in my house here in southern CA, and before I partially insulated my garage, it could get as hot as 125° - 130° in summer and that was and still is where all my seasonal decor is stored. I have no place else. Shelves in the garage, floor to ceiling. I have a few delicate pieces that get stored in the house, but nothing here is that is not in use. I have beautiful stuff, but no relatives to hand down to and after I go who knows what will become of my belongings. So I use everything, expensive China and crystal, hand crocheted tablecloths, you name it. If it gets stained, oh well. At least I USED the things instead of saving for "nice" or "special company" - who is more special than us???
