Carpet that has been professionally laid should be as easy as pulling the carpet off the gripper plates around the edges and just roll it up.
Cut the carpet in section lengths and roll up each section for easier removal.
As Debbie recommended, cut the carpet with a utility knife, into 2-3' wide sections, preferably no more than 4-6' in length, to facilitate ease of handling. Repeat for the carpet padding.Be careful of the tack strips, which can be quite painful if you get stuck by tacks. Use a small pry bar and heavier, long screw driver to facilitate tack strip/tack removal. Wear knee pads, gloves, eye protection, and a mask, because dust can be fierce.
You will need to cut the carpeting and padding into manageable 3' strips then roll it up and tie it. You will need to remove the carpet tack from around the edges of the room with a crow bar.
