How long do you think wallpaper will last in a Kitchen?

I want to put up a mural in my kitchen. I would like for it to cover at least 1 entire wall in my kitchen. The problem is, that I don't know how long this will last, especially with the moisture from cooking. I don't want the problem of repositioning the mural every few weeks. Would this also work on Brick?

Is it right behind your stove??

If not I don't think moisture in a kitchen will effect it at all....many people wallpaper a kitchen with no problem. I wouldn't worry.

No DD66, the wallpaper will be on opposite wall from the Stove. Thank you for your prompt and helpful answer.

  • I agree, the moisture shouldn’t effect it unless it’s right behind the stove area. My parents had wall paper all in their kitchen for 20+ years and it was good

Thank you so much Alexis. This is good to know. I will be wallpapering for my house makeover.

  • My mom had part of the kitchen wallpapered back in 1972. Lasted until they remodeled again in the early 90's, and I ripped it all off in 2007. Was not near the stove. My dad did a great job as I had no trouble removing it.

Remember to get into the habit of always running your exhaust fan when cooking, to reduce moisture.

Hi Geraldine. My name is Cindy. I think a wallpaper with a waterproof vinyl coating would be the best choice for your kitchen. It's easy to wash down and keep clean. It's designed especially for bathrooms and kitchens. If you prime the wall before installing the wallpaper, it will make the job of removing the wallpaper a lot easier (whenever that time comes). Good luck Geraldine.
