Peppermint Bark Soap – All Natural DIY

I don’t know about you, but this time of year, I’m a peppermint bark-aholic! I could seriously be 24/7 peppermint bark… anything! I’ve been wanting to make a peppermint bark soap, and when Hubby announced he’s out of soap, I knew it was time to get out the DIY supplies. Mr. Green Beret Hubby loves my homemade soaps. He actually prefers them to store-bought. Shhh… don’t tell anyone!

The directions look lengthy, but I spelled it out so you can follow the directions easy peezy peppermint breezy.

The ratio is three squares of soap base per one bar of this size (3x2x1). So for example, if you want to make three bars of soap, you will want to cut out 9 squares.

The normal ratio is 10 drops of Essential Oil per one bar of soap. Use fewer (but not more) to your scent preference. I like to use a few less as peppermint is pretty strong.

You will also need a Silicone Soap Mold.

1.  Cut out the desired amount of soap base squares.
2. At half power, heat the soap in a large glass container or glass measuring cup at 30-second intervals. Depending on your microwave, this should take a total of 2 minutes give or take.
3. Let cool for 30 seconds.
4. Pour approximately 1/3 of the soap into a container.
5. Stir in the raw cacao and add 1/3 of the drops of essential oil.
6. Ideally, you will want to pour the soap mixture through a funnel into the soap molds. It helps to minimize the bubbles. But if you don’t have one and don’t mind a few bubbles, it’s optional.
7. Let sit for 30 minutes or so at room temperature.
8. Gently heat up the remainder of the soap mixture until liquid again.
9. Let cool for a few seconds and add the remaining essential oil.
10. Pour almost to the top of the soap molds.
11. Let sit for four hours at room temperature.
12. Gently remove from the silicone molds.
