Is painting the floors a good idea? The original floors are not good?

A friend of mine painted her kitchen floor in neutral gray, but she knew it is only a temporary fix until she would save her money and put in a more permanent solution like laminate floor or new linoleum. It can be done, but remember it is not a permanent solution for a good floor. Hope this helps, Deb.

What are your floors now? Wood? If they are oak, they would be worth refinishing (cheaper than carpet) if not then painting is ok, but still need to sand, prime with oil based primer, sand again, then paint with oil based paint, 2 coats. Basically the same amount of effort to refinish but not as desirable.

Thank you very much because I know that it's going to be temporary but a friend keeps telling me to get rid of the house but it's paid for and I want to try to fix it since I live in it. Have a good day and happy veterans day.

All floors require some sort of maintenance, take your time to make your decisions. I'd keep and fix up a paid for home as long as it still meets your needs.

Painting the (wood?) floors is only a good idea if you use a primer, then paint, then seal it well with a sealer made for floors. I made the mistake of not using a primer and the paint on the floors scratched.
