You could try habitat for humanity and other second hand recycle stores to find cabinets.

Could you post a few pictures of the space you have to work with and the surrounding cabinets?

Hi Rosemary, go to craigslist in your area and go to the free section. In my area people are always giving away cabinets. Most of the time they sit them out on the porch or something so anyone can pick them up.

Paint them for sure may need to lightly sand & use primer first so it sticks to the metal. You could use tension rod for curtains and hang curtains to cover area it if you need it covered & no doors.

How about some open shelving? Great way to display beautiful items that have been stored away.

If you repaint the existing metal cabinets or not, first, I would do something with the now bare wall exposed by the removed Dutch oven. You can paint to match your kitchen, or the cabinets, or try something else like removable wallpaper or easy stick-up wood or wood look boards or tiles from a big box store or bought online. Then, I would install some shelves. They don't have to be fancy. You can have shelves to size cut at your local big box store and install some brackets to hold them up. You wouldn't need to hunt around for a cabinet to fill in the space, which probably wouldn't match the style of your current (vintage?) cabinets. Good luck with your project!
