Hi Becky, maybe this can help you! https://www.smartdraw.com/floor-plan/home-design-software.htm
We used Home Designer Pro to design our addition. That was in 2008 so I can't imagine what their programs are like now. They are probably amazing. It was great! Then after we designed it we did have it checked by an architect. A quick check shouldn't cost nearly as much but he caught little things that the program didn't show. We needed another load bearing beam and he also showed us that moving a closet to a different area of the room would give us more usable space. Little things like that did help the design to just have it looked over by someone who knew more than us. But that program really got all the basics and it was $200 for the program.....not $3000 like it would be to hire an architect to do everything. Good luck!
