How to make yardstick table top for an intact treadle sewing machine?

I have the whole vintage sewing machine with the top at opens up and the sewing machine rises up. I don't want to ruin this, but I do want to put a removable yardstick table top over the whole thing. How do I frame the underside so it will set on the sewing machine without rocking on the "bump" where the sewing machine door is? Thank you.

Could you send a picture? But you could add blocks to bottom of new top the thickness of the bump on the 4 corners. Use plywood or any other solid wood the size of the top you want to make. Find decorative trim to go around perimeter of new table top, wide enough to cover edges of rulers, plywood and blocks. Miter corners of trim, apply with wood glue and nail to blocks. Cut and glue down your rulers to center, lay something heavy on rulers or clamp until dry. Stain and/or finish. Hope it works out for you. Sounds fun.

Sorry, I wanted pictures of a “yardstick top”.

Yes, you’ll have to put edging on the bottom of your new top.
