I say when you have empty bottles in the house either paint it or decoupage it. I never have the heart to throw them away. This time around I created this beautiful bright colored Flower Vase by painting the vase first and then decoupaging a gorgeous Ikat pattern on top.If you want more ideas as to how to spruce up those empty bottles then be sure to check out my Stenciled Bottles, Tissue Paper Decoupaged Bottles, Marbled Clay Bottle and Ombre Yarn bottle. Now lets jump right into this tutorial.

I first painted the entire bottle with the Yellow chalky finish paint.I gave it two coats and let it dry before I moved onto the next step.

Then I laid it onto the Ikat paper to measure out how much I would need to cover the bottle.

Cut the paper in the desired size. You can get creative and use fabric or any other material that you like for decoupaging.

I have even used artificial leaves and flowers to decoupage my furniture pieces.

Use a thin layer of decoupage glue and apply it first onto the bottle.Gently wrap the paper all around trying to smooth out any wrinkles that form.Final step is to apply a decoupage layer on top of the paper to seal everything in.And there you have it.
