I personally love updating stationery but if you aren’t going back to school it is always fun to update those plain looking Office Supplies as well.If you want to see more inspiration do check out my Hand Drawn Binder Update and my Tropical Binder post to get more Ideas.

So I started off with a plain brown Clipboard.

To brighten up the brown I used the color Canary Yellow and gave it about two coats. It looked instantly better with the bright pop of color.

Let it dry before you start the stenciling.I was going to use three shades of green for the cactus and a little white to add the cactus spines in the end. These reusable stencils are great. Just peel it off and they have a sticky back which means while you stencil they stay put and don’t move around.

This always results in getting clean crisp lines.I cut out the specific cactus I was going to use and attached it onto the clipboard.

So the way I used the three shades of green was by using the darkest shade on the outer areas of the cactus, then the medium shade and in the middle the lightest shade. You could use a stencil brush like I did or even use a sponge.A little paint goes a long way.

When it is complete, simply peel off the stencil and this is what you should end up with.Lastly I went in with a thin tipped paintbrush to create the spines of the cactus using the color Cotton Ball.I stenciled four of the smaller cactus on the four corners of the Clipboard and the bigger one in the Middle.
