Depending on your fireplace screen, the whole thing should simply come off and you clean it then put it back in place and lock it down. Id need a picture otherwise to know what time of fireplace glass doors you have. Some simply have little knobs in the sliding track part that you can push down and the doors open out. Sorry I am not more help.

If it doesn't come clean with windex try using a steamer. A steamer is good for so many other things too like cleaning your oven and tile grout. https://amzn.to/2DiAhy4

  • My husband uses oven cleaner on our wood burning fireplace. The kind of cleaner that doesn't need to be heated to work. I wonder if that would work for your gas one too? Our wood burning glass door get really sooty and it does a great job!

    Hi Emma,

I'm Linda and I used to clean mine by putting newspapers on the floor then spraying the glass with oven cleaner. I let it sit for a while and all of the soot would just wipe off. Now I use a paste of baking soda & water - put that all over the glass then spray with a mix of vinegar & water (50% each) with a few drops of Dawn. This is my go-to cleaner and works for almost everything. You will need to leave it on for a while so that it can do it's work, then wipe it off with damp paper towels or a cloth of your choice. Once the soot is off then I do a final clean-up for both the inside and the outside of the glass with just the vinegar & water cleaner.

I don’t see where the glass comes out. It’s a gas fireplace
