    Hi Richard.

Sliding tracks can get very messy. The best way I have found to keep them working well is to vacuum them out as much as you can. You may need a small hand broom to get into corners if things are stuck inside.

Usually, just keeping the debris out will make it slide nicely. On very old or rusty tracks I’ve used a little of WD 40 but beware things will

stick to it making a bigger problem.

Good luck and happy sliding doors!

Use a steamer with a slim nozzle. You would be shocked how clean you can get dirty tight corners and areas. Also, just a quick question....are you sure that the sliding glass door is not opening as easy because of the dirt? We have a heck of a time trying to get ours open at different times of the year because the support for the door is sagging and the door isn't always level. I notice it is extremely hard to open in the summer and the winter it gets easier. If it changes according to seasons and weather, it may be the support under the rail in the wall. Just something to think about. I really hope its just the dirt:)

    Hello Richard,

I have cleaned the debris out of the bottom channels with a moist toothbrush and moist paper towels to make the door glide mire effectively. Hope this helps.

    Richard,

Use dry graphite power to lubricate the track. It won't attract dirt and dust. As K suggested, you may have other issues. Look at the wheels closely to see if they are cracked, chipped, or have developed flat spots. There is a screw to adjust the wheel height for each wheel assembly at the bottom that might help as well. Does it seem like it is sticking at the top or the bottom? Be sure to clean the top and lubricate it as well.
