I had that problem at one time, but a friend of mine had an exterminator come to her house and she gave me spider traps that had a bit of glue inside. You have to put them under or behind furniture so your dog won't get at them. Worked for me. I also bought web killers so it took any webs down, if there were any. The traps folded up like little tents.

  • My girlfriend Hoover's them up as she sees them. I just pick them up and take outside.

Peppermint oil does work, BUT depending on who you believe, peppermint oil can be toxic to dogs (pets in general), even though many have it on the "safe list" - do your homework and talk to your vet and know the source of your essential oil. Even those labeled "pure" are only 5% essential oil and the rest a carrier oil of unknown origin.

One place that I lived that was turn of the century had a enclosed outside stairway as the only way into the completely unfinished basement. We always had spiders in the stairway/back porch and basement. I used Windex to kill the spiders, it worked pretty well for the ugly little things!

Hi Sandy, sorry you are having a problem with spiders. Personally I am so scared of them I scream like a little girl. Hope this helps you it is a natural way to rid yourself of spiders. Also be sure to keep your corners dusted well. Good luck. The smell, like the peppermint oil, will keep spiders and other insects far away. You can also mix the oil with water and place in a spray bottle and spray the solution around your home. A bonus, eucalyptus oil is also a natural remedy for repelling snakes and mosquitoes.

Really need to figure out what kind they are Black Widows,Brown Recluse Hobo are highly venomous and can cause serious damage to anything they sink their fangs in. http://www.terro.com/spider-species My friends just had to put one of their dogs to sleep because of severe ongoing complications from a spider bite.Black widows always stay in one spot until the babies hatch then they are on the move,Brown Recluse make webs everywhere up high, down low, very hard to find. Harvestman & Daddy longlegs aren't even spiders like people think.

House spiders/ Jumping spiders, Wolf spiders they are all basically harmless and eat many pests that you don't want in your house. Just kill them, suck them up in handheld vac, destroy the webs.
