i have a large galvanized tub I use for plants but I need to drill some drainage holes. Do I need a special drill bit for this? Thanks!
Any acrylic paint will do. Unless you want the bowls to look like Tiles, then you get a tile makeover kit

Oh that would be pretty! Here is how I plant in containers with no hole.
For the pitcher, place a few rocks at the bottom. Then use packing peanuts (or whatever you have) as "filler" to about half the pitcher. Then add the cactus and succulent soil to fill within 3 inches from the top. Add plants. Top with a thin layer of sand, the kind you buy for childrens sand boxes or use aquarium sand from the fish deartment at any pet store. Hopefully you have some plants that will flop over and trail down the sides.
Add pitcher to bowl. Scatter about an inch of pea gravel around the bottom of the bowl around the pitcher. Add soil to within an inch from the rim of the bowl. Add plants. Add thin layer of sand. Add embellishments. I have all sorts of fairy garden type do dads and fun bits to make them look pretty. I am fond of animals, I would tuck in a squirrel, raccoon, dog. Or since it is almost Thanksgiving, add acorns, twigs, etc.
Once install is done, water lightly. Do not place near a heater. Water as needed. If inside, once every couple of weeks, dribble in a bit of water.
It is going to be heavy, so be careful!
