You need to get something like a fogger. Hotshot Flea and Bedbug Foggers kill mostly Anything.
Thanks wholeheartedly.
There are plenty of pesticides around, but the insects return. I am looking for a long-term solution rather than a momentary relief.
Hi Haim,
So sorry you have this endemic problem around you, you have done a lot to help control the population of these pests, lets hope your neighbors are as active in this control effort as you are.
Most of what I have read is protect yourself with coverings during the times when they are most active.
It may sound simplistic, but how about using a large fan outside to remove them from the area where you live, just a thought.
Thanks. When we sit in the backyard garden we do use industrial fan and it helps and when the grandchildren are around (running all over) we smear them with repellents and yet the mosquitos manage to suck their blood. The insects bother us a lot when gardening, or doing some short time chores.
I could find no long term solutions other than wearing tighly knit, long sleeved/long legged, light colored clothing and applying 10% DEET. If your neighbors have open or clogged gutters, standing water in plant dishes, low lying yard areas, bird baths that lack mosquito larvae control tablets, etc., there's little you can do, other than advise them of potential for mosquito borne illnesses.
Regularly spraying your lawn and patio areas with a lemon scented dish detergent and water mix will only be temporarily effective.
I'm unsure if pyrethin sprays would be of any help to you.
Have you contacted your local county extension agent's office or Department of Health?
Many thanks.
Haim
