How do I upgrade my fireplace?

I want to change the look of my fireplace. I'm sick of the gold frame! I need some ideas that are easy to do. Any suggestions?

You can easily paint the gold to another color. Have you poked around on Google or Pinterest yet? What is the style of your home? What are you looking for? Modern? Traditional? Rustic? Vintage? Mid-Century?

  The style of my home is mostly traditional. The problem with my fireplace is that there is al 5 inch gold trim all around and it might not look good if I paint it.

  Beautiful home! Well gold is returning in a big way, but if you are tired of it, time for a change. Painting can look spectacular, if done properly. You can always send out to an auto body or car restoration shop to have painted or powder coated for you if you are afraid to try yourself. Copper, bronze, hammered silver would all be pretty. So would matte black.
  
  You can remove the gold frame and put tile in its place. I would go with a pretty tile rather than a faux stone treatment.
