    To be safe hire a professional. . A lot can happen if you don't know what you're doing. .our electric company makes it mandatory. .our neighbors bought a good size one. He messed up trying to connect it. .had to hire a professional. . Be safe then sorry. .

    Follow the instructions in the owners manual. If you don't have one you can Google the make and model number to get one. Follow all the manufacturers instructions and recommendations. A portable generator wirth electric start would have a battery that needs to be charged up. When power goes out or you want to use it everything plugs into the generator.

    We changed out our electrical box. Has a safety switch built in so when the power went back on there was no back flow. It allow us to plug in the generator outside into the box and flip on switches we needed to power up like fridge, outlets, etc. Best left to the pro’s. Bit of expense but worth it than just plugging random things into the generator itself.
