The corners on the former braid seem sewn at 45°.

I just use my finishing headed tacks to secure the braid around the chair and when I get to the end, fold the braid under and secure it with a finishing tack

If you do sewing you will need curved needle(called mattress needle) and matching thread. Anchor first and last stitches by going through material a couple of times. Then you line up braid with where you want it but a tiny bit to center. Put stitch through fabric and into braid; when pulled tight it will cover the sewing. Easiest may be to simply oversew the braid using whip stitch going through chair fabric.

    Hi Rose-Marie,

You can buy Upholstery and sail needles that will help you do the job. Try eBay?
