How can I store pecans?

I have about 5+#s of pecan meats, package in vacuum sealed packs bout 2 cups each. would it be best to put them in the freezer or would they be ok to store in a dark closet.

Hi. Lucky you. Freeze them. The oil does go rancid after a time.
I've always stored nuts in the freezer.
