In a hurry to decorate for Thanksgiving quickly? This Thanksgiving garland is just the thing to get your house Thanksgiving in no time.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner. I am sure you can relate when I say that decorating between Halloween and Christmas can be super hard and overwhelming.

I know I am always tempted to just skip Thanksgiving and go straight to Christmas. This year however, people will be coming to my house for their turkey fix so I will HAVE to throw a few easy things together.

If you are looking more even more Thanksgiving inspiration, check out these  easy Thanksgiving table ideas and this  flower centerpiece.

Today, we are going to make some DIY Thanksgiving garland. Garlands always add style and can easily transform an entire room. This “Thankful” garland is really quick and it gives your home that extra “homey” feel. You can also change-up the color or style to go with whatever Thanksgiving theme you are going for.

Here is how to make your DIY “Thankful” Thanksgiving Garland:

Start by preparing your wood circles. Mine came in a big bag. They did not have any holes pre-drilled (If you prefer they do actually make pre-drilled wood pieces as well). To get my wood pieces so I could drape a string through them, I added eye hooks to the tops of them.

Usually, it is easy to insert eye hooks into wood. You simply place the hook on top of the wood and start screwing it in. This wood was extra tough though, so I used a tack to start the hole and then screwed in the hook.

Repeat this for each piece of wood. There should be eight pieces total.

Create your “Thankful” letters

Once you have your wood prepped, create some letters to add-on top of the wood pieces. This is where you can completely customize the look of your project. Change the color of you letters. Switch the font or paint your wood a different color.

To create my letters, I used a font called “Simple” (I believe I downloaded it from Creative Market a while ago.) I saved the svg file in my Freebies library if you would like to download it. Visit my blog to join my email list and get instant access to all of my freebies.

If you don’t have a Cricut,ready-made letters will work perfectly.

Once you have your vinyl letters all ready, peel them off the backing and stick them in to the wood, much like a sticker.

String your Wood Pieces onto your Twine

Now it is time to place your wood letters on the string. Measure out how long you want your banner to be, then add about a foot to account for knots that will shorten the string. You can always take extra lengths off the ends, but you can’t add more on. Longer is better. (I say this because I measured wrong and had to redo it.)

String your wood chips through the eye hooks, working forwards or backwards, place your first letter on the string. Tie it in place with a knot.

Continue this process for each of the remaining letters. Spacing them evenly and tying them into place. As you go along, check the spacing and make sure everything is where you want it.

Add some “Bling” to your Thanksgiving Garland

Now that you have the word “thankful”, add some bling. This would look awesome with a green leafy garland or some wooden beads.

I decided to use hot glue and add some feathers. Since the garland is close to the fireplace opening, I needed shorter ones in the middle, so I added small red and yellow decorative feathers that I had lying around. Turkey feathers would be another amazing option.

Enjoy your new Creation!

Wasn’t that easy and a lot of fun? I love the homemade and Boho feeling that it ended up giving out!
