What can I do about old glue on bathroom floors?

Can u use regular paper bags? I put the cheap tile tile I'm taking it up but wondering about the glue n a bathroom

Hi Felicia! You might try sanding off some of the glue or using a product to remove the glue. You can explain that to the folks at Lowes or Home Depot.

Are you asking if you can put in a paper bag floor, but are concerned about the glue from self stick tiles?? Please clarify.
Proper way is to remove toilet and sink and lay down a sheet of luan before installation of vinyl flooring. As per manufacturers instructions for warranty..
This can get expensive...so....
DIY version...Sand and scrape floor as much as you can. Go to Lowes or Home depot and get solvent that will dissolve most of what's left on the floor. Let dry. Apply 1 coat of primer sealer/BIN zinsser product (shellac base) sticks to anything and will make a nice substrate for your new tiles to stick to. No removing of toilet and sink necessary.....Voila!

Chip off as much of the glue as possible. Remove glue so the surface is smooth (try hot water and then progress to stronger removers.) A heat gun can do wonders to remove old glue. It will likely need a sanding to get it smooth.
As another poster mentioned be sure the area around the toilet is sound wood and that the supporting wood underneath is sound. Lift out the toilet and do the paper bag floor before putting the toilet back.
Fill in any large gaps with Fixall or Strong Man putty. Be sure to keep the filler level.
Then you are ready for your paper bag finish. The ones that are without print work the best. With a little prep your floor is ready to go.
If you want to do another type of flooring later you'll be good to go.
forget paper bags...too much trouble..i'd get a nice sheet of laminate/linoleum and do your tiny space...it is practical and affordable...besides, you can always change it if you want to..easy!
