How do I create of the floor storage in my craft room?

I have a 10 x 10 bedroom that I want to convert to a craft room. Due to limited floor space my son has recommended that I use off the floor storage to house my craft supplies, and machines. I have researched many brands but am confused as to which is the best for me. I would like to use the cloth bins to store my supplies so that they are hidden but accessible. I will also have a craft table and an IKEA Micke desk for my computer.

You can hang some bins on the walls. Another idea is to get a lingerie dresser. They have a very small footprint.

Do you have a closet in this bedroom? If so guild shelves to store your supplies.

    Hi Dee,

Shelves wide enough to take boxes or crates etc.

Hello Dee! Do you have a closet in this bedroom? Can you add shelves to this closet rather than hanging rods for clothes? I have a bedroom converted to a craft room. I have a shelving unit that fits into the closet. I store my craft items in plastic bins with lids so I can see what's inside each one and stack them on the shelves. I have a shelf for my machines too. I also have an armoire in the bedroom where I store more craft items--looks like a dresser--but great storage. I got my wire storage unit shelves at Menards-usually about 30.00 or less depending on the size.

I don't know what the desk is without a picture, but perhaps you could put a hutch above the computer desk and the craft table to add some storage. You can get attractive wire shelving units that you can put many of the cloth bins on the shelves. You can also put the plastic drawer units under your craft table to save some space with your frequently used supplies in the drawers. They come in different configurations of drawer sizes for different things. I hope this helps you a little with your storage needs for your craft room. If you want to build something, you could make floor to ceiling bookshelves that are made to accommodate the size of the machines you want to put on them for the depth. That would hold a lot of supplies, etc. for you.

If you purchase one of those stand up shelving units with all of the colored plastic baskets you will be able to place your smaller articles in there and see at a glance what you have. They usually run about $100 on sale. You could install wall shelves for the larger things like your machines. The larger plastic containers would be good for your fabrics. Labeling is the way to go. If you place the shelving units about a foot from the floor and go up, you will be able to clean underneath easier. Use one half inch thick shelving so that it is sturdy and does not buckle. Have you checked out this website? They have a lot of options. I'm going to order a dreambox next year, when I have the a place for it (adding on to our house) and the money. They are a little pricey though.
