How to get our Bosch dishwasher going again?

WE have an 8-year-old Bosch dishwasher. All of a sudden, it seems to have gotten stuck mid-way through a cycle. It pumps out all the water, but no rinse water will come in... the drain pump just keeps running. Out of an 85-minute cycle, it's stuck on 41 minutes left; I've tried unplugging and plugging back in; I've changed the water inlet valve; I've cleared up the pan where the emergency shut-off float sits. Nothing doing so far. I have to waste too much money changing out parts; I don't see any kind of error code.

Any ideas out there on what to try next? The machine still looks and recently worked almost good as new---hate to just junk that stainless-steel tub and all. Thanks---

Perhaps it warrant a look from a pro. Perhaps one of the pipes is clogged, or anything could be wrong. Check with an appliance dealer on someone that they use and trust for repairs. What is wrong may be really expensive and would justify purchasing a new dishwasher in the long run with the expense of changing out more parts.

There is a solenoid valve that controls the water inlet for each cycle. Maybe the controller is damaged and not opening the valve for that cycle.

Does it get stuck at the same 44 minute point during all cycle settings, or just on one setting?

Same start time in all wash cycles; it re-sets to 41 when I hit a different cycle. It will count down to "one," but will stay in drain mode forever without going to zero.

  • You can always call a Bosh repairman. We were using an all-natural detergent and when ours broke in a similar way, he said that they only run on Finish detergent. I rolled my eyes, but the difference is night and day. Good luck! Hugs, Holly

Not sure if this is same problem, but ours would not hold the cycle. If we pushed on he door tightly it worked. Company was no help. I decided to scrub the upper latch mechanism and wa la it worked.

I always clean the lower but never thought about the upper.

    Good luck anyway.

We had an E24 error message after a year of operating our Bosch dishwasher. It must be a common problem, because it is the only error message they list. It means the drain line is blocked. Water was left standing inside. We tried cleaning filter and checking the pump impeller. I finally disconnected the hose at the garbage disposal and found some stuff that made it through the filter. It seems to work now.

Well, I broke down yesterday and bought a new Kitchen Aid model; installed it this morning.

My son wants the Bosch. I will let him know that indeed some gunk came out of the drain when I dismantled that unit. I did find some olive pits partially clogging part of the discharge opening at the bottom of the dishwasher. I'm now guessing more than that got by whatever they consider the "food chopper". Since it worked for you, I'll suggest he clean that whole drain system and try it again. We can hook up a water line and wiring, and run the drain into his utility sink.

Thank you very much for the spiritual boost here! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours--

Happy Thanksgiving. My wife and I are happy that our dishwasher is automatic again instead of having 2 legs. My Bosch is only a year old, so I wasn't ready to dispose of it, and I'm too cheap to call a repairman.
