How do I create privacy in my basement apartment?
Put something up to separate my basement family room and bathroom from the kitchenette. A door wouldn’t wor, not enough room. The width is about 48” and needs to stay handicapped accessible.

You could use a tension rod and hang a curtain.
You can buy a piece of lattice and cut to size. Because it’s light weight it will be easy to move out of the way when you want it out of the way.
Janice! I have lived in a basement apartment before, and I understand completely why you want to do this. Privacy and also the feeling of it being a real home to you. I have put up rods with curtains before, and I also used an oak wood screen. At one time my Dad built in a unit to go across the apartment in the basement which made it so nice. I found these ideas which look to me like what you are talking about! Good luck Janice. I hope to know how it all turns out for you. Have a great Thanksgiving.

If you want something like a solid door you can do the sliding barn door option. You can buy sliding kits online or at Lowe's or home depot. You can use on large door or two thinner doors. Since the sliding is on top it will not affect a walker or wheelchair.
I really appreciate all of the suggestions. We finally ended up putting in a bi-fold door that folds out of the way. Hope that makes my daughter happy because I am NOT re-doing the layout to make her happy otherwise she'll never move out!
