    Hi Pete,

I I am very familiar with those old-school blinds, had them in my past in the 80s, they were rose pink, ughh.

Mine were fabric E on one side and plastic on the other. Not sure if yours are like that or if they are just the plastic material. At any rate I think either way, you could paint or stenciled them. Tailor the color/design to your liking and whatever matches the rest of your decor.

    Good luck!

Some people spray paint them. If you have lots of patience, cover each one with fabric. Either, makes a statement.

Have you come up with a solution, Peter?

    I'm in a similar boat.

I personally hate them so I don't think there is any way to upscale other than take them down. I'd replace with drapery on sliders. Sorry I wasn't any help.

Unfortunately, the hardware on vertical blinds is so specific to the plastic slats that they can't be 'reincarnated' into any other type of window covering.

If you are ready for a change, it would be best to remove the vertical system entirely, then install something different.

Contact paper or wallpaper are 2 possible solutions to change the appearance.
