Antique Vanity Makeover (Update!)

Do y'all remember this ugly old Vanity that landed in my lap for free? I asked you if I should Fix It or Nix It? Well, after a few hundred comments here on the blog, Facebook and Hometalk I decided to keep it and work some magic on it.
Here are the BEFORE photos. It was VERY dirty, the veneer was completely gone in most places and barely hanging on in others. The top of the Vanity was the worst though. There was what looked like a burn and many stains on it. I tried saving the wood, especially on top by using Citristrip and then sanding but it was just no fixing it.
Here's the AFTER. I decided to try my hand at homemade chalk paint. Then I added some gold paint in the detail work and then added some flower knobs I found at Homegoods.
In the end I only spent $13 on the pretty knobs and I have two left over. I'll likely sell this piece but I'm glad I decided to make it over instead of just nixing it! Head over to Houseologie to see the finished results!
