soak a cloth with household ammonia and cover spots for a few hours. Keep wet with ammonia and it will all come off easily
With a sharp razor held side way.
Razor did not work. Baking soda and hot vinegar did not work. It is burned on and has pitted the 4-month old range...have been cleaning it for two days. Will try ammonia. Thank you.
Try a paste made of baking soda and water, Wet down really well with mixture, keep a damp paper towel over it, and let it loosen up. Then scrub with a non abrasive SOS or magic eraser.
Glass,ceramic ????
It is glass. I am working on the ammonia trick now. Have to wait a bit; it's only been two hours. Will update with results. Thank you.
Try dripping very hot/boiling water over the burned sugar. The heat should dissolve the ssugar, although it may take some time.
I am afraid the sugar has etched the glass....no remedy. I would call the manufacturer and ask.
Update: I applied the ammonia and kept wet with a cloth overnight. It took much scrubbing and a second overnight soak, but the burned sugar eventually came off in flakes. The burner is ruined and though still under warranty, the problem is cosmetic and not covered by GE. Thank you all for your help.
