When you buy a package of flooring, it will have directions. The main thing is to pull boards from different packages and intermingle them as the colors may be slightly off and this minimizes the look.

I'm in the process of trying to get glue down flooring off. Please, use the snap in flooring if you want to save yourself lots of work if you ever want to change your flooring.

Vinyl plank flooring can be installed with or without gluing compound. With glue the floor is more permanent, and has the advantage of making the floor more waterproof. Without glue is easier and quicker, but you will need to do extra prep work to make sure the floor is absolutly smooth and clean. That means pulling out all the staples from carpet, filling areas where two boards meet, getting up all the dust, paint spots, etc. We did ours using the no-glue method because the box instructions said to do it that way. I should have listened instead to the salesman, who said use the glue.

Foor all types of planks the general method is to measure, cut, put the plank in place as tightly as you can, then use a board and hammer to tap it gently into place as snug as you can. You might want to start in an unused corner of the room because you will get better and you don't want your worst work to show that much.

When you get your planks, be sure to get the baseboard to go with it. It's easiest to cut the lengths you need all around the room, then take them out and paint them the final color, and when they are dry re-assemble them on the floor and nail them in with finishing nails. It is important to paint them before you nail them down because you cannot paint the baseboards without getting a little paint on the floor and wall.

    Have fun ................... Judy
