The professionals all use plain water with a few drops of the original blue Dawn dishwashing soap. I have never used myself, but have hired professionals before and the results are terrific. They do use squeegees however.
Every time I clean my mirrors, they end up having tons of streaks and almost look worse than before I started. What could I use to clean them that won't leave streaks...

Rubbing alcohol and newspaper not paper towels
If your windows permit, try "Sprayway glass cleaner". Apply with a soft cloth, after having cleaned window per Tonya's instructions.
Squeegees make a world of difference, wiping off rinse water on a dry cloth after every stroke.
I wash windows by using a microfiber cloth, dampened with water or vineger. Do not dry.
Be sure the microfiber cloth does not have fabric softener in it. Microfiber cloths work better without softener and will streak windows if added.
