Make these mini topiary Christmas ornaments this year for a fun and unique way to incorporate farmhouse style into your Christmas tree! A great gift idea for the gardener in your life as well!

I’ve been trying to make our Christmas tree decorations a little more personal this year so of course I had to add something garden-y into the mix. These mini topiary Christmas ornaments are a tiny version of the  DIY Moss Topiaries I made earlier this year and are the direct result of me desperately wanting to find a way to use those tiny terracotta pots that you find in craft stores for years. Those things are so stinkin’ cute aren’t they?

Start out by aging your terracotta pots or preparing them in any way you choose. I did a teeny tiny version of the larger aged terra cotta pots that I made this spring and I love the way they turned out. I’d also love to see these tiny pots painted in a classic bright red or even in black.

Once your pots are prepared, run a bead of hot glue around the top of the pot and attach a styrofoam cone form to it.

Now it’s moss time!

Working with one little pinch of moss at the time, start at the base of your cone form and glue the moss right on to the styrofoam. Keep working around the cone and up towards the top until you’ve completely covered it.

I love seeing interesting ornaments like these on people’s trees and it’s even better if they’ve been handmade! So go ahead, and give this simple DIY a try!
