How do I put together a Christmas Village outdoors?

This would be the kind typically put together indoors. Last year we had one in Fairy Forest on top of an open structure we built on top of tree stumps. See photo. This year we are building something new to make it somewhat sheltered in a 3 sided structure we're making . My question is have you done one or have tips on fastening the small lamps and other bits that tend to fall over easily? I tried using a glue gun and it came off in the cold. I don't want it permanent. And the other question is if you have done one outside Christmas Village how do you weather proof the houses? They will be out there all of December. They seemed ok for the most part just a bit of wear but I intend to add this feature yearly.

To secure or anchor, try peel n stick velcro tape, or magnetic dots,and I have also seen washers painted black glued to the bottom of the light polls to give add weight, n prevent toppling.
Spraying the items with an aerosol lacquer might help protect them from the elements.
Poster putty has worked very well for me indoor and outdoor. It has the consistency of bubble gum but holds up well. Adding magnets might work as well, depending on your surface. I think you have a lovely village.
I am sorry...I have no suggestions to help you, just a plea that you post pictures on here of your village! The one picture you posted is beautiful, please post more.
As someone has also mentioned I would spray with a outside that you are able to spray on as a lacquer of some sort to protect from the weather. We just began to build an inside Christmas Village. We made mountains as I can see in one of your pictures. I have a question for you. We sprayed the styrofoam with Krylon crystallized spray but when it was dry it doesn't appear to have been sprayed at all. We would like the mountains to have a glittering effect, mimicking that of snow. Can you tell me what products you used to make your mountains have such a nice finish. By the way I love your idea of an outdoor Village. I hope you have it in a spot that is safe from the squirrels and that you are able to enjoy it from an inside View. Thank you very much.
This is not a real answer but a word of caution.Fluffy cotton balls make pretty snow BUT they burn FAST and furious.
I just wanted to say how pretty your village is.
Mines indoors, outside in my neighborhood would be gone in a new york sec, lol.
I have an indoor Christmas Village which I have been adding to for years. Never thought of an outdoor one, really great idea. I would be tempted to use an exterior clear sealer on the pieces, especially if you live in a snow belt or the Village is unprotected. I may try this with all the wonderful pieces I see at my Goodwill Store.
How about a pickup truck ornament with Christmas tree in the truck box. I got mine at Cdn Tire
Change up the Scene. Use Model houses, Build some using bird boxes. Try using Model Railway stuff etc.
Your village looks amazing! I have never done one and live in hot country where the weather isn't so intense so this may be an "out of bounds" idea. Have you considered encasing the village in plexiglass?
