How can you get the smell out of a freezer?

my husband pulled the wrong cord and unplugged our freezer while we went away for 3 months, I have washed it with vinager, bleach water, have put crumpled up newspaper , out of ideas, the smell is still there.

Once forever ago, a pkg. of fish defrosted in the door of my refrigerator. Unbeknownst to me, there was a crack in the plastic lining of the door. Phew! Stinky, stinky. Long story short, I unscrewed the panel and removed the insulationl. Laid it in the bathtub and SATURATED it with Amway's LOC. After rinsing ... and rinsing and rinsing, no odor was left!!! I have no idea if LOC is still around.
Boxes of baking soda, charcoal or fresh coffee grounds.
Use activated charcoal. You can get it at better price, by looking in the pet dept, for fish care products. It's used in filters for aquariums. Sprinkle in plate or bowl and change after a couple of days. Baking Soda is also good for removing odors.

take a paper towel and roll into a ball; pour 1-2 drops of vanilla extract on it and place in freezer and also one on fridge side. Don't let it touch sides because it will stain - leave for a few hours, the smell will be gone and the vanilla smell with go away quickly as well this is great for coolers that have a fish smell as well - I have even used on my dogs to bath them when they dug up something dead -you don't need much vanilla so use sparingly
