Christmas time is beautiful with all of the lights and ornaments in and around our homes. We decorate our mantels, tabletops and windows...But, there's something beautiful, natural that we can add to our decor to give it life, fragrance and a rustic feel to your Christmas decor this year.

It's very easy this time of the year to gather narcissus bulbs, plant them in beautiful decorative containers to add to your Christmas or winter home decor.

The beautiful star-like blooms of the Narcissus generally bloom in the Spring, but with just a few steps, you can 'force' them to bloom this winter - indoors! The will add beauty and fragrance to your home's decor.

Gather the supplies you'll need: Narcissus bulbs, pebbles, marbles or decorative rocks, low, decorative planters or dishes.

The first thing you do is to lay a foundation of pebbles or stones in the dish. You'll just want a shallow amount to set your Narcissus bulbs on.

Place the bulbs atop the stones. Odd number bulbs always look best.

Add more stones to the dish - make sure you allow about 1/3 of the Narcissus bulb to be seen above the stones. Add water only to the level of the bottom of the bulb. Continue to monitor and water as needed.

You can use a variety of beautiful dishes to place these lovely flowers throughout your home. The time it takes for the bulb to grow varies from 6 to 12 weeks. Place the planter near windows for light. Rotate the planter so that the plant will grow evenly - not reaching for the light!

When your Narcissus is in bloom you an add decorative bows to complement your Christmas decor.

Once you're flowers have faded you can allow the bulbs to dry and then plant them in your garden in the Spring. If you'd like more step-by-step instructions - visit the post on A Delightsome Life
