We go through so many if those sturdy red plastic coffee containers, there surely should be a way to repurpose them.

Hi. I have a garage shop full of folgers cans each holding nails, screws, washers, etc. I put labels on the handle side. I use the bigger ones in the house to store plastic bags, etc. I don't use them for food, because no matter how many times they are washed, they still smell like coffee. Yum! I also use them when I paint because they are much easier to carry around than a paint can.

  • I use mine for my compost scraps. Since I don't like to head out to the compost bin every day, I put the kitchen scraps in the coffee container and then take it out every few days.

I like both above answers. I do the same. Try a different fireplace decoration this year. Drill holes in them in the shape of a star or a circle or spell out JOY, or PEACE. Put a piece of wood inside the width of the can so you can put pressure on the drill as you make the holes. Spray paint gold or silver or green. Stack them up in a pyramid and put a flameless candle in each. You have a fireplace or mantle tree for Christmas.

I put my plastic shopping bags in them.

I have made kits for the homeless with socks and such. They are perfect because they are water tight.

I also use for paint, screws, nails and such as listed above.

There is a project on the subject but agree with Karen Brunck about no food - smell/taste like coffee:

Paint them, put a decorative knob on top and use to put lint from the dryer.

Have a friend who used them as canisters in her home. Had cute labels so she can know what is each one.

My husband and I use in the garage for several things. Like my friend we have labels so we know what is in each one.

Someone decorated them to use as savings banks.

  • I would find a fun decoupage rice paper and I would cover them and then use them for storage or I would put faux flowers or greenery inside.
