If they are not heavy stains, simple white vinegar can remove them. If you wet a cloth with vinegar and lay it on the surface for a little while, that helps. On persistent stains like a bathtub or sink, you can get a product called "CLR" (Calcium, Lime, and Rust) cleaner, which works on most stains. In the very worst cases you need to resort to a Naval Jelly, but make sure it will not harm your surface before using it. That is what they use on Navy vessels before painting!!!

Hi Dwight. It can depend on what the stain is on. I have used WD-40 on fabrics and carpet for rust stains. I also like to use bar keepers friend on my pans and sink. Good Luck!

therevare a few products at hardware stores or Home Depot especially for rust. But you need to read if it’ll damage the material that is under the rust first( ie disinvest steel , etc

  • It depends on the type of material you're cleaning the rust off of. CLR is great but you need to check the label first to make sure it's safe for whatever you're putting it on.
